A great leap forward: DELMIA Quintiq joins Dassault Systèmes

DELMIA Quintiq acquiredAt DELMIA Quintiq, news is often greeted with excitement. That’s because it is usually great news. A new customer, a new world record, more awards and recognition, yet another year of continuous profit and growth. Words like ‘restructuring’ carry no taboo here, since it’s always led not to jobs in jeopardy, but the creation of new business and career opportunities for all.

This July has brought some of the most exciting news yet, and we couldn’t wait to share it with you. DELMIA Quintiq has entered into an agreement to be acquired by Dassault Systèmes.

“Good companies are not sold, they’re bought”

Of course, we’ve had offers before, but these were met with a polite, “No, thank you, we’re not for sale.” And yet, after Dassault Systèmes first approached DELMIA Quintiq, things moved remarkably quickly. Remember that one of the things that sets DELMIA Quintiq apart is our KPI-based planning system, meaning that we place business goals at the center of ever planning decision. In this case:

Would being acquired by Dassault Systèmes:

1. Advance DELMIA Quintiq’s goals?

2. Be good for our customers?

3. Be good for our partners?

4. Be good for our employees?

The answer to all was a resounding yes.

Dassault Systèmes

Headquartered in Paris, France, Dassault Systèmes is a world leader in 3D design software, 3D Digital Mock Up and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions. They are also, DELMIA Quintiq discovered very quickly, an ideal cultural fit.

“We both put high value on hiring smart people,” says DELMIA Quintiq CEO, Victor Allis. “We both encourage communication, collaboration, passion and integrity. We both pursue exciting visions for our companies. And we share a burning desire to be the leader in our space.”

Dassault Systèmes’ goal is to be a leader in providing a 3DEXPERIENCE to customers. Their solutions enable businesses to model and simulate environments in a virtual world. Today, Dassault Systèmes’ is looking to expand to include, among others, the point where the virtual world meets reality. That is where DELMIA Quintiq fits in. With DELMIA Quintiq, Dassault Systèmes will increase the value to customers by extending their offering from the modeling of global industrial systems (in the virtual worlds) to the reality of planning, producing, delivering and servicing industrial products on a daily basis.

And Dassault Systèmes is equally committed to DELMIA Quintiq’s vision.

Accelerating growth

Less than two decades old, today DELMIA Quintiq is the largest dedicated supply chain planning and optimization company in the world. We count among our loyal customers top companies in more than 30 industries, including express delivery, steel production, energy, freight rail and retail. But everyone on the DELMIA Quintiq team knows we can do more.

“The dream of DELMIA Quintiq’s five founders was not only to create a single planning platform to solve all the world’s planning puzzles… it was to make that software the global standard,” says Victor. “The reason we are not selling 10 times as much software as we do today is not a technology problem – it is a scale problem.”

As the 9th largest software company in the world, Dassault Systèmes can offer DELMIA Quintiq “the reach we need and accelerate our growth. We will have offices in Japan, South Korea, India and South America, and more. We have entries into the aviation, life sciences, high tech, and the automotive industry and others.”

More innovation, more growth, more reach, more potential. Good news all around.
