What’s the current view of logistics in Germany and what can we do to strengthen cohesion in the industry?
The “Logistics Alliance Germany” (LAG) is the initiative created to support this objective. Since January 2014, DELMIA Quintiq has also been part of the LAG. The Parliamentary State Secretary, Dorothea Bär (MdB), handed over the official membership certificate to Frank Tinschert, Business Unit Director Logistics at DELMIA Quintiq, in the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI).
The members of the LAG include the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Verkehrsflughäfen (ADV, or German Airports Association), the Bundesverband Güterkraftverkehr, Logistik und Entsorgung (BGL, or German Association of Freight Transport, Logistics and Disposal), Deutsche Bahn AG/DB Mobility Logistics AG, Deutsche Post DHL Zentrale and the Verband Deutscher Reeder (VDR, or German Shipowners’ Association).
The Logistics Alliance Germany is a partnership project of the BMVI and the German logistics sector, which wants to position Germany as a logistics and transport hub for the European market and German logistics companies as leading specialists. A rewarding target, for which the LAG is doing a great deal.
For example, LAG is represented at trade fairs worldwide with its own stand, as a sub-exhibitor or trade visitor. In the next few months, destinations such as Moscow, Shanghai, Seoul, Hong Kong and Istanbul are on the agenda. Thanks to strong partners including the German Foreign Office, the National Confederation of Industries (CNI) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, LAG is on the spot worldwide when representing the interests of the German logistics sector.
Under the slogan “Logistics made in Germany,” LAG conceives targeted activities to market the Germany as a logistics hub and its logistics services together with the BMVI and the members of the association. Furthermore, the group acts as the central information and contact point for companies abroad, primarily for those from outside Europe, when they are looking for expert partners from the German logistics sector.
And that with success, “Logistics made in Germany” has since been recognized worldwide. Frank Tinschert says, “The service quality and expertise of German logistics companies are at an extraordinarily high level. We see this confirmed every day by customers such as DHL. It’s no coincidence that Germany has just been crowned Logistics World Champion by the World Bank. However, this level has to be retained and this is what we are striving for.”
