How smart planning makes you a better employer – whether you want it to or not

Profits or employee dissatisfaction? Sorry, Scrooge, you can’t have both.

Let’s imagine that you are Ebeneezer Scrooge, transplanted into the today’s business world. You run a multinational company and have hundreds of employees. Still, you remain old-fashioned in your beliefs. Bah humbug to the countless studies showing that a happy employee is more productive. You like your workers oppressed and miserable, almost as much as you like making money.

Therein lies the problem. If you want your business to succeed, you have to take steps that could – in spite of your worst intentions – improve conditions in the workplace. The best planning technology, for example, reduces costs and optimizes your operations for profit and efficiency. However, it would also cosset your employees with:

Job security – A great planning solution adds significantly to your bottom line. How are you supposed to threaten employees with downsizing if your company is doing so well?

Employee-friendly schedules – A great planning solution gives you a 100% fit. It incorporates all your business-specific rules, regulations and constraints, including labor laws and employee preferences.

Confidence – A great planning solution maximizes your resources by assigning tasks to the person best qualified to perform it. Consistently doing a good job is bound to positively affect an employee’s self-esteem.

Advancement opportunities – A great planning solution plans for both the short and long-term. It helps companies identify future needs and supports them in creating an optimal road map to achieve these goals. You could easily strengthen your workforce and schedule employee training and certification to minimize disruption and maximize returns. But could you overlook the benefits to your employees?

An impressive resume –A great planning solution contributes to your company’s success and experience with a highly successful company adds value to any resume. Should your employees choose to move on, they would be in great demand.

Not that they would want to leave. Why would they? In today’s world the most effective and profitable companies can’t help being great places to work. That’s bad news for Scrooge. But good news for everyone else.
