Top 5 Moments from the Gartner Supply Chain Executive Conference in Melbourne

Pretty exciting two days! The Grand Hyatt in Melbourne was packed with senior supply chain executives for Gartner’s Supply Chain Executive Conference. The two-day event was filled with packed sessions, engaging discussions, inspiring keynote messages and awesome giveaways. Here are my top 5 moments from the event.

#1 Optimization technology in supply chains

My personal favorite was the presentation by Dr. Victor Allis, CEO of DELMIA Quintiq – “The Missing Piece of the Profit Economy”. (too biased!). There was a good turnout, thought-provoking questions and Victor was his usual enthusiastic self. He spoke of generating more profit by looking at how to better plan for the future. What’s the piece most businesses are missing? Find out when you catch DELMIA Quintiq COO, Arjen Heeres, presenting at Gartner’s Supply Chain Executive Conference in London.

Victor’s presentation was such a hit with keynote speaker Lim Chin Chye, VP of Haier Home Appliance Group. He referenced it in his speech on supply chain innovation.

#2 #GartnerSCC

I like the fact that we’ve got awesome supply chain advocates on Twitter. With so many sessions throughout the two-day event, it would have been difficult to keep track of everything. But with the hashtag #GartnerSCC, messages from keynote speakers and supply chain evangelists were shared in real-time, keeping our Twitter community updated. Check out some of the tweets:

#3 Puzzle solving

With DELMIA Quintiq being the platinum sponsor, I had the great opportunity of sharing insights into supply chain planning and optimization with supply chain execs at the event (glad you had fun with our custom-made Rubik’s Cubes and USBs, too). In between sessions, I also caught up with Gartner analysts James Lisica, Debashis Tarafdar (excellent demand management session!) and Director of Press Relations, Susan Moore.

#4 Gartner Magic Quadrant Theater

These short presentations were very informative on topics including supply chain planning tools, global third-party logistics providers, and warehouse management systems. Kudos to Gartner for putting this together!

#5 Supply chain community

A strong supply chain community is what made this event an excellent one – enlightening sessions, engaging discussions and great messages. I feel proud to be part of this year’s Gartner Supply Chain Executive Conference with so many case studies, company co-presenters and inspirational keynotes. As Gartner analyst, Matthew Davis said, “The supply chain community will continue to create value for our customers and provide the globe with the products and services needed, every day.”

#6 BONUS: Chocolate fountain

It’s not every day you see a delectable-looking chocolate fountain at a supply chain conference. And yes, I am a chocoholic (how did you guess?) and it was indeed delicious.

Looking forward to seeing you in London next!
