A year-end message from GEOVIA CEO – Michelle Ash

Hi Everyone

It has been another exciting year, with many challenges for us all, both personally and professionally. But I believe 2022 will bring brighter and more connected days.

For me personally, this past year has highlighted more than ever the importance of continuing to connect with family, friends, colleagues and the community. Connection has been a lifeline in this time of stress, a way to feel “normal” even as a global pandemic continued to upend our lives.

Connection, as you know, is also a priority for us at GEOVIA.

This past year, for example, we created the GEOVIA User Community –– a flexible space for users like you to connect with GEOVIA experts, to exchange knowledge and know-how, and promote each other’s expertise in implementing GEOVIA solutions. At the same time, we continued to develop and deliver online courses to help you not only do what you do better, but also become better prepared for the ongoing digital transformation of the mining industry. Because the need for that transformation is accelerating.

You and others like you have told us that you are feeling increasing pressure to become more sustainable and to move away from the traditional “take-make-waste” linear economy to a circular economy. You want and need to change, and change quickly, and we have responded. For example, in 2021:

  • We continued to refine our virtual twin experiences for the mining industry, helping you envision, design, and implement projects that will move you closer to zero waste and net-zero emissions.
  • We greatly enhanced Surpac and Minesched by adding parametric design and better integration with other Dassault Systèmes brands.
  • We released the first GEOVIA native roles –– including Geology Modeler, Pit Optimizer, Surface Mine Designer, and Earth Engineering Coordinator –– in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. This was a proud moment for the GEOVIA team, a moment we were delighted to share with the clients and users who helped us get to this milestone.

Our work is far from over, however. In 2022 and beyond, we plan to continue developing solutions that promote increased data integration and collaboration, and to improve mining process ESG/sustainability KPIs. I look forward to sharing with you the inventions and innovations that I am convinced will help the mining industry support a healthy and sustainable planet for everyone.

In the meantime, I wish you a joyful holiday, a happy new year, and a healthy and peaceful time with the ones you love.
