It’s Tip Tuesday! This is Part One of a Two-Part series. Our GEOVIA Surpac™ Product Manager, Marc Poualion, discusses the Linear Clearance Analysis and Deviation Analysis tools, which are part of the Mesh Tools Module, available with Surpac.
Designed for safety, to save time and increase efficiency, the Mesh Tools Module significantly enhances Surpac’s modelling capabilities and represents the first major incorporation of technology developed originally by GEOVIA’s parent company, Dassault Systèmes, into our software. Mesh Tools allows the user to conduct comparison, analysis and simplification on solids and surfaces. Linear Clearance Analysis and Deviation Analysis are two of the tools available in the Mesh Tools Module
Linear Clearance Analysis allows the user to calculate distances or points of intersections between two datasets. For example, a mine designer can quickly determine the spatial separation, or points of intersection, between designed tunnels, ore bodies, faults and drill holes to ensure the proposed design meets minimum separation distances to satisfy mandated safety requirements.
The Linear Clearance Analysis tool is accessed by opening the Surfaces or Solids Menu, Selecting Mesh Tools, and clicking Linear Clearance Analysis. The form permits the user to select all datasets loaded including surfaces, solids and drill holes as the basis for the analysis.
Deviation Analysis allows the user to compare two solids or surfaces by plotting the relative differences between them in a colour coded map. This map is designed to easily show the areas of main deviation. For example, the user can compare development plans to real world results and report on whether or not construction has or hasn’t met design requirements. This allows you to take corrective action immediately to avoid additional costs.
The Deviation Analysis tool is accessed by opening the Surfaces or Solids Menu, Selecting Mesh Tools and clicking Deviation Analysis.
