GEOVIA Surpac™ 6.6 has a neat new feature, Create Table from Clipboard, that makes it really easy to add tabulated data to plots when you are editing a plot in the Surpac Plotting window. This is a very simple 6 step process:
- Select the cells in the spreadsheet that you want to paste into the Surpac plot.
- Use Ctrl+C to copy the cells into the copy/paste buffer
- Select the Create table from clipboard toolbar button from the Plotting window toolbar.
- When the Digitise the location for the new table prompt is displayed, click the left mouse button to define the location for the lower left corner of the table.
- Complete the Create table from clipboard form to paste the table in your preferred style.
- Press the escape key to cancel the function.
In 6 simple steps, you have successfully pasted a spreadsheet table into a Surpac plot! Wasn’t that easy?
In addition to Excel, Surpac can also paste tables copied from Word, PowerPoint, or any other program that complies with the Windows standard for copying tabulated data into the copy/paste buffer. The process for creating tables from other software packages is exactly as described above.
The table you just created may not be exactly where you want it. Fortunately all the line sand text elements in the table are grouped into a single element to make moving the entire table really easy. Moving the table requires just 4 steps:
- Click the Select tool button on the Plotting window toolbar.
- With the mouse positioned over the table, press the left mouse button to select the table. The selected table is shown using the highlight color.
- Click the Move tool button on the Plotting window toolbar to activate the Move tool. You will see the Move tool widget displayed at the lower left corner of the selected table.
- Click on either the X or Y arrowhead to move the table in the X or Y direction only, or click on the axis origin to move the table in the X and Y directions until it is at the correct location.
