Dassault Systèmes, the 3DEXPERIENCE Company, today launches the Natural Resources Forum, a one-day event bringing together a world-class gathering of industry thought leaders and business executives to explore digital transformation in mining.
In its third year running in Africa, the Natural Resources Forum will take place today in Sandton on 30 November 2017. This year’s theme is the “Mine of Tomorrow”, which will explore the solutions our industry needs to move beyond mining today to ensure long-term sustainability and growth.
“In today’s economic environment where demand, supply and commodity prices are more volatile than ever, it is imperative to think outside the box to solve some of the industry’s most complex issues,” says Raoul Jacquand, Dassault Systèmes GEOVIA CEO.
“Digital disruption through technology is needed to propel our industry forward, which is why we have chosen the Mine of Tomorrow as the main theme for our Natural Resource Forum. It will aim to address the questions of: What does the virtual mine look like? What do we need to take us from today to the future? And what does innovation mean for the future sustainability of mining?”
The Forum will feature an impressive lineup of speakers including a keynote from Clem Sunter, South Africa’s leading mining scenario planner and strategist, who will talk about making the mine of tomorrow a reality.
The Forum will also feature an industrial kiosk showcase from Fujitsu, an executive roundtable and a four-topic innovation track addressing digital transformation in mining.
Attendees will have the chance to explore our 3DEXPERIENCE Playground and immerse themselves in an Underground Virtual Mine, where they can interact with a mining environment in real-time virtual reality among other scenarios. The playground will also feature a metal 3D printer and the Fujitsu Industrial Kiosk.
We’ll be posting the highlights from the Natural Resources Forum shortly on the blog, so stay tuned!
