Sodern, a world leader in pulsed neutron analysis, and Dassault Systèmes have entered into an agreement to work on near real-time assaying solutions in mining.
Together, they will explore a range of use cases where neutron borehole logging technology can be further integrated to mining business processes to improve near real-time resource visibility and allow miners seminal tools for updating geological and resource models.
“With our Sodern collaboration, we aim to provide very fast assaying to mine operators so that they can make informed decisions on grade and operations in a matter of minutes instead of days. This technology use and integration is an important step in real-time geological and resource models that will ultimately support measuring while operating and more autonomous mining.” said Jeff Hamilton, Director of Brand Strategy & Alliances at Dassault Systèmes GEOVIA.
At GEOVIA, partnering with technology partners, academics, government, industry leaders, and business partners is an important part of how we do business. By adding Sodern to our list, GEOVIA now has in excess of 50 partners, including Alford Mining Systems, Paramina Earth Technologies, and WSP Group.
A proof of concept (PoC) will be developed using Sodern’s FastGradeTM neutron borehole logging tool, and Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The PoC will leverage the years of experience both companies have in the Natural Resources industry.
Sodern FastGradeTM is a borehole logging tool that applies Pulsed Fast and Thermal Neutron Analysis (PFTNA) technique for in situ determination of elemental concentrations of the rock mass.
It takes advantage of an electrical pulsed neutron generator that can be switched on and off on demand, overcoming the most significant limitation associated with traditional chemical permanent isotopic sources. This makes the PFTNA technique inherently safer, significantly improving occupational safety on site.
