GEOVIA InSite Reporting Explained: Dashboards & KPIs

For intuitive and rich reporting, drill down and navigation, there are a number of options to GEOVIA InSite that you may or may not be aware of. If you have InSite 4.6.1, you will be able to utilize reporting features such as updated dashboarding, Power BI, KPIs, Mobile and Paginated Reports.

Dashboards

Dashboards in InSite are easy to create and do not require programming/scripting or IT skillsets in order to implement. Here’s how to create a dashboard for yourself or others in your organization

  1. From your InSite homepage or module landing page, navigate to the Design option from the menu available in the top-right corner of the InSite web application.

2. Drag the type of dashboard widget you would like to add to your new dashboard from the available options on the right into the design pane in the left.  You can resize the object via the design panel from the default size if you like.  Options are Custom Chart, Material Flow, and SSRS Report.  In this example, we will create a full-screen Material Flow dashboard.

3. Click on the Configuration button to load the Configuration wizard. Select your site.  Note: if you are using InSite to manage only one of your operations you may see only one site listed.

4. Give your Material Flow a Title and drag the Location Types and/or Location Categories that will represent the flow of material at your operation.  Select the activities, measurements, plan type, plan period type, and material types that you would like to display on your Material Flow.

5. Click Save to preview your work with data from the system.

Save once more to save the final result, or press the Configuration button once more to adjust your result before saving.  You can also map your new dashboard to your home page or module landing page via the Mapping tab and you can publish your new dashboard to other system users or groups via the Access tab.

Dashboards will load automatically on the pages you’ve saved them to and/or can be displayed in Monitor mode for live display in controls room or technical services areas at your operation.

Key Performance Indicators

KPIs are also easy to create and do not require programming/scripting or IT skillsets in order to implement. Here’s how to create a KPI on your InSite reporting landing page for yourself or others in your organization.

  1. From your InSite reporting landing page, select the New > KPI option from the top-right menu.

2. You can populate various parameters for your KPI including planned and/or actual values or datasets, visualization type, etc.

3. Click Apply to review your results.
