We are pleased to announce that GEOVIA Whittle 4.7.1 has just been released. Whittle 4.7.1 provides over 20 customer requested updates and enhancements:
Optimal pit shell generation using the Pseudoflow algorithm:
The Pseudoflow algorithm published in 2008 for optimal pit shell generation has been found to the most efficient algorithms available. The option to use this algorithm has been implemented in this release of Whittle.
- When processing large and complex scenarios, the Pseudoflow algorithm can create optimal pit shells in a fraction of the time it takes the LG process to be completed. This opens up the potential to run a large number of “what if” scenarios when going through feasibility study, or a mine re-forecast, which will lead to a more robust planning process.
CAPEX Optimization:
Simultaneous Optimization in Whittle 4.7.1 has been made more flexible by enabling Capital Expenditure to be considered in the simultaneous optimization process.
- Users will be able to explore potential improvements to NPV through simultaneously increasing Mining or Processing limits that will save hours of time, will provide increased lead time to scope out infrastructure improvements (e.g. Processing plant upgrade) and ultimately could improve the NPV of a project by millions of dollars.
Additional key features to be highlighted include:
- Block PCAF and MCAF values set to None is now a valid selection.
- The SIMO process no longer requires a SPCO license to add blend bins.
- DXF pit shell exports are now valid surfaces for use in GMPs.
- Import Surface node now functions correctly when the working directory is moved.
Whittle 4.7.1 is provided complimentary as part of the GEOVIA Maintenance and Support Program subscription and can be downloaded through the new dedicated download service from the 3DS Support Site (Click here for detailed instructions). Please contact your local office for assistance or email GEOVIA.Support@3ds.com.
If you are currently not under a Support agreement, and wish to understand how to receive Whittle 4.7.1, please contact your local Dassault Systèmes office.
Update: We have released the GEOVIA Whittle 4.7.1.1 Cumulative Update:
Whittle 4.7.1.1 will only be required for users who have purchased, or are looking to purchase any of the Simultaneous Optimisation modules. For the wider Whittle user base, this update will have no impact and is optional.
- Simultaneous Optimization reporting modifications provide the user with greater flexibility:
- The SIMO Spreadsheet Report now includes CAPEX data in the Summary – Limits sheet. New data includes the Additional Capacity, New Limit, Undiscounted Additional Capacity Cost and Discounted Additional Capacity Cost.
- The summary tab in SIMO node and SIMO report node now shows the result of CAPEX cost information when CAPEX optimization is enabled.
- SIMO Spreadsheet Report now handles more than 100 periods
- The SIMO Schedule Report node now reports Net Cash flow instead of Gross Revenue as the Open Pit Value in the Output tab.
- The SIMO Report node now supports Individual Mine spreadsheet codes under a Multi-Mine scenario with “redirect ore to avail” enabled.
- Important defects have been resolved that impacted the quality of Simultaneous Optimization results:
- When the Mining recovery or Dilution does not equal to 1, the Simultaneous Optimization process now reports the correct amount of metal and grade.
- The summary tabs for the Simultaneous Optimization node and the SIMO Report node now match.
- Workflow improvements make the use of Simultaneous Optimization more user friendly:
- There are now two columns for the “In-situ” tonnage (mined tonnage) and the “Diluted & Recovered” tonnage (tonnage sent to processing) added to the SIMO and SIMO Report node summary tabs. This change only appears if Mining Dilution or Mining Recovery are enabled in the Scenario node above Simultaneous Optimization node.
- The Simultaneous Optimization node now has a Mine Limits tab when it is located under a Bulk or Extractive Blending Scenario. The SIMO node Mine Limits tab is identical to the Scenario node Mine Limits tab and has the same effect on the Simultaneous Optimization process.
- Discount Rate period variations can now be used in the SIMO Node
- The Simultaneous Optimization node now allows selection of multiple Rock Types in the Blend Bintab when adding new Blend Bins to the list of bins for SIMO.
