How to Rotate Data in a GEMS Display Window

It’s Tip Tuesday! Today’s post comes from Hayley Manning, one of our Technical Customer Support Consultants

For GEOVIA GEMS™ users, the ability to rotate data while presenting 3D information is essential.  Did you know there is a keyboard shortcut available in GEMS that allows the user to apply spin to the data? This functionality will allow the user to show off their 3D models smoothly without having to focus on manually adjusting the view.

Here are the steps to display rotating data in a GEMS display window

1. Open the data you wish to display in the GEMS display window and click in the display window.
2. On the Keyboard press Shift + Period (.).
3. Enter a vertical angle step value.

5. Enter the number of Iterations (e.g. # of Iterations * Angle Step Value = Degrees Rotated).  Enter zero for unlimited spin.
6. Press ESC on the keyboard to end the rotation.
