For mine planning engineers, it may often be confusing to keep track of haul routes at a mine site, particularly when there are numerous destinations such as various dumps, Run of Mill and Tailings Storage Facilities (TSF). By identifying each route by a unique name, it makes it easier for users to map road networks to their destinations. This is now possible in the latest version of MineSched.
Once you have designed your road network in GEOVIA Surpac, you can populate the haul route name into your choice of description field.
The below steps demonstrate how this can be done and how to import your route names into MineSched.
In Surpac,
- Access the Layer Maths Function in Surpac
- Select the description field of your choice, e.g. d3, and enter a unique route name into the Expression field that accurately describes your haul route, e.g. “INPIT”. The below images illustrates only three haul routes for the purpose of simplicity, but you can add as many routes as you want. The white line represents the in-pit common road, while the other coloured lines represent other routes.
- Click Apply
- Save
Now that you have saved your string file, they are ready to be imported into MineSched.
Importing your haulage network into MineSched
- In MineSched, click on the green plus sign next to Roads to import your roads.
- Navigate to the string file that you previously saved in Surpac
- Once the desired string file is selected, the Import Haulage Roads dialog box will appear. Map the appropriate description field to the column “Road name”, “Full velocity” and “Empty velocity”. For instance, if “Full velocity” is in the d1 field, select d1. This way, road names become intuitive to the destination as seen below. For instance, haulage route 1, TO_DUMP, consists of 2 haul roads: INPIT_1_1 and DUMP-4_4_1 which is the pathway to reach the dump.
This is the same for route 2, TO_HG which is made up of roads INPIT_1_1 and HG-2_2_1.
Now that you have imported your haul route names, you can proceed to define the routes in the material movement grid for scheduling.
