Mining Expansion Continues throughout Africa

Mining Industry growth remains steady across the continent of Africa and is projected to grow in 2014.

According to Bloomberg, London Mining Plc, the second largest iron ore producer in Sierra Leone, will spend USD 40 million on iron and ore mine expansion to raise output to 6 million tonnes per year. The company, which produced 1.5 million tons of the steel-making ingredient in the first six months of the year, will spend $40 million in 2014 to expand output. London Mining will spend another $240 million in 2015 and 2016 to extend the life of its Marampa mine. Read More

Meanwhile, the Namibian Economist reports a new project for Weatherly. The mining company is looking to increase its copper production with the new N$90 million Tschudi mining project. The project is situated 20 km west of Tsumeb and will allow for the mine to bypass the smelting process of the copper. Read More.
