It’s Tip Tuesday! Today’s post comes from Ivan Alvarez, one of our Technical Support specialists, who works in our Latin America office.
When plotting sections in GEOVIA GEMS™ using PlotMaker, many users will benefit from a simple trick that will allow you to automate the process of writing the names of your section into the plots you create. Just follow these six easy steps (when viewing the images, click on them to expand).
1. Open or Create a .sty PlotMaker template file you want to use in PlotMaker.
2. Insert a textbox where you want to add the name of the section.
3. Using the Property Sheet for the textbox, edit the OBJECTCODE text to “Comment1”.
4. Save the .sty template file using File > Save or File > Save As.
5. When plotting your data now in GEMS, choose to create a batch of plots by selecting multiple sections (i.e. vertical sections) to plot.
6. Choose the PlotMaker template that you just saved (the.sty file) on the Plots tab.
7. Choose OK to generate the batch plot file (.qbl).
8. When you open each page in the batch plot file in PlotMaker, the section name (as it was defined in GEMS) will automatically be entered into the textbox with the OBJECTCODE ‘Comment1’.
By following these steps, you will successfully name your section.
