Our latest release of Inside GEOVIA featured an interview with Remi Roques, Consulting Manager Enterprise Business Unit, discussing the need for data centralisation. Below, is an excerpt from the original article.
Recently, GEOVIA Services provided implementation, training, support and ongoing solution enhancements for a customer who needed an efficient solution to integrate and centrally manage all their operational information. The customer underwent a training package comprised of both offsite and onsite learning. Since engaging GEOVIA Services, the customer has seen significant benefits to their organisation. They have improved production costs through reliable management of production information, and now provide efficient and refined month-end reconciliation through customised reports. They have enhanced control, influence and visibility over their mining operations.
How do you approach data centralisation?
InSite centralises data from different source systems like fleet management, geological models, equipment and employee location, laboratory, material movement, stockpiles and plant.
Why is it important for mining operations to do this?
Mining operations need to track and reconcile their production. These functions are embedded in InSite.
What are the benefits to data centralisation?
Data centralisation allows mining operations to dig into the details of production anomalies and understand the cause of the production inefficiencies. For most mining organisations, data is typically stored in spreadsheets, which are not secure, do not have validation capabilities and do not allow teams to collaborate effectively. Data centralisation promotes the ability to track and reconcile production data allowing mining companies to identify the sources of production efficiencies.
