How to Obtain a GEOVIA Whittle Local License

The self-service licensing feature is now available for GEOVIA Whittle. Self-service licensing permits you to download license from the GEOVIA support website. To use self-service licensing, you need a GEOVIA dongle and a DS Passport account.

If you do not have a DS Passport account, you can create one by contacting your local GEOVIA office or by emailing GEOVIA.Support@3ds.com.

Please note if you are launching Whittle for the first time you will see a License Selection window pop up.  If GEOVIA Whittle has been launched before, when you are inside the application, you may go to File >> License Validation option.

  1. When you see the License Selection window pop up, follow the steps in the below screenshot:

  2. Your web browser will open the GEOVIA License Download site login page. In the web browser enter your DS Passport username and password and click “Log in”.

  3. On the next page you will see a message “License Creation Success”. Your licence file will be emailed to your inbox.
  4. The licence file will be emailed as an attached zip file with the .LICZ file extension containing your license, and a PDF listing your license configuration. The .LICZ file can be opened with Winzip or renamed to .ZIP and extracted with any archiving tool.

  5. Save the license file ‘license.dat to the any folder on your local computer. Launch GEOVIA Whittle, select Import license, and click Browse.  In the Open dialog box, browse to the dat file, and click Open.
  6. Click OK in the License Selection form. The Update License Token form appears. Click OK to complete the license validation process.
