It’s Tip Tuesday! Today’s post comes from Christina Ludwicki, one of our Knowledge Mining Consultants.
When working with GEOVIA™ PCBC, the slice file refers to the grade element list in GEMS. As mine planning progresses, new grade elements may be added to track different attributes in the production schedule. To use a slice file in PCBC, the grade element list must match the order of elements in the slice file, which sometimes requires a need to create multiple grade element list profiles.
Here are the steps to create an additional grade element profile.
- Right-Click on ‘Profile List’ on the profile tab and select Properties.
- Create a new profile ‘New’; this new profile will automatically match your current profile list. While pressing Save As, create a second profile list called ‘Old’.
- Expand the Grade Elements folder, and click on ‘Grade Elements’ highlighting this in the right hand pane. This will bring up the ‘Standard’ Icon in the right hand pane. Right-click below ‘Standard’ in the right-hand pane, and select New Group, and name the new group ‘OLD’. These two groups have been added to the left-hand pane.
- In the left-hand pane, click on the group ‘Standard’ to highlight the icon, then right-click in the right-hand pane on ‘ELEMENTS’ selecting Copy.
- In the left-hand pane, click on the group ‘OLD’ to highlight the icon, and then right-click selecting Paste to copy the ELEMENTS profile to the OLD group. Hit Apply to save the profile.
- Switch from the ‘NEW’ to ‘OLD’ profile group. Expand the Grade Elements list, and right click on the ‘OLD’ group selecting Set as Default. This step ensures that both profile groups are referencing different element lists. Hit Apply and OK.
The active profile list will have a small black tick mark next to the name. Now, any changes to the element list will only affect the active profile list.
By following these steps, you can successfully create an additional grade element profile and use the slice file.
