Significant gold and copper deposits have been found in Rajasthan, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh, with the reserves for both metals expected to be world class, according to Mineweb.

The news source reported that the Geological Survey of India (GSI) has struck huge reserves of gold ore in Rajasthan and a new report has indicated the presence of gold and copper deposits as well in Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka.

“GSI has made three significant findings. There is the discovery of copper mineralisation at Khera block in Alwar district of Rajasthan and gold mineralisation in Tumkur and Sonbhadra districts in Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh respectively,” Mines Minister Dinsha Patel told Mineweb.

The news source reported that GSI had similarly struck massive reserves of gold ore in Rajasthan’s Banswara district. Though they are still evaluating the commercial viability of the project, GSI has claimed that nearly 250,000,000 tons of gold ore was embedded in a specific region across the tribal district.

GSI also announced the finding of platinum and gold in eastern Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district. Though gold is extracted at the Kolar Gold Fields of Karnataka from significant depths, officials noted that the new findings would ease pressure on imports and add the country’s output, according to Mineweb.

The Deccan Herald reported that the Rajasthan Cabinet cleared several investment proposals on Wednesday while finalizing the state’s budget, helping to solidify the sector in the region and creating jobs for the local population.
