Updating a .MDL Block Model in MineSched

It’s Tip Tuesday! Today’s post comes from Ivan Alvarez, one of our Technical Support Specialists.

GEOVIA MineSched™ is a powerful and useful tool for planning engineers. One of the easiest tools to use is the “Update Block Model” option. If you are using a Block Model in format .mdl (Surpac format), here are the steps to automatically update your Block Model with an attribute to include the period when the block is mined.

1. Once the schedule is created (running), select the “Publish Results” Tab and “Model Updates” options.

2. Select the Locations you want to update and write a name for the attribute that will be created in the Block Model.

The second step in updating your Block Model in MineSched.

3. Press the “Update Block Models” button to update the .mdl file.

The third step in updating your Block Model in MineSched.4. The information from that period will be exported from MineSched and saved in the new attribute of the .mdl file. After that, you can restrict your block model by period and graphically view the sequence of mined period by period.

Yes – it’s just that simple.
