In our previous blog post on Surpac 6.8.1, we explored one of the new improvements to point clouds functionality. Users can edit point cloud data, trim unwanted points and save to different cloud formats. 2D meshes can be created using selected areas and at an optional reduced, user defined point density.
In the below video, GEOVIA Senior Portfolio Manager Justin Meade provides an overview of how you can work with point clouds of any size and in multiple formats:
- Types of formats accepted
- How data is collected from laser scanning and drones
- How to use a point cloud to calculate material movement during a period
- Cleaning of data sets to remove erroneous points
- Saving an area to a new point cloud
- Creating a DTM surface from an area of interest to be used in volumetric calculations
