Bolstered by rapid advancements in technology and future-focused government policies, India’s startup community has grown immensely in the last few years. In 2017, India was the world’s third largest country in terms of startup volumes with 4200 new technology companies.
These organizations are committed to finding new ways to address long-standing challenges in Infrastructure, Healthcare, and Transportation & Mobility. To support this group of innovative entrepreneurs who are breaking new ground to bring about significant positive change in the country, Dassault Systèmes enables access to the latest tools and technologies via our 3DEXPERIENCE Lab.
The 3DEXPERIENCE Lab showcases the power of the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, bringing cloud connectivity, digital continuity, and operational efficiency to speed up time-to-market for new products.
Empowering Startups via The 3DEXPERIENCE Lab
Since 2015, the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab has brought Dassault Systèmes’ market-leading innovations to startups across the globe. We have worked with companies in IoT(Internet Of Things), healthcare, smart cities, transportation & mobility, and various other segments to aid their product ideas through 3D simulations, smarter product design processes, and multi-disciplinary collaboration.
In September 2018, we launched our 3DEXPERIENCE Lab in India in one of the country’s major startup hubs, Pune. At the facility, entrepreneurs can leverage collective intelligence and Dassault Systèmes’ technology to nurture projects, which could bring in sustainable innovation, transform society, and lives. The Lab is an open innovation center, working with selected startups across specific focus areas — providing deep support to product design and development processes for two years.
Three Focus Areas for New Breakthroughs
Looking at India’s vast startup ecosystem, we believe there are three domains, which could significantly benefit from the implementation of cloud, digital continuity, and operations optimization.
- Electric vehicles (EV) for a lower carbon footprint – The electric car sector was specifically mentioned by government policies as integral to building a sustainable future for India. Between 2017 and 2025, this market will grow at a 34.5% CAGR, crossing USD 707 million. Further, India’s large scale public transportation system offers new opportunities for EV adoption, making inroads into shared mobility as well. From batteries and electric drive to power electronics, our 3DEXPERIENCE Platform allows EV designers/manufacturers to simulate complex processes, check for performance under strenuous, and guarantee adoption.
- Smarter technologies for construction, cities, and territories – For over 100 centuries, cities have been the epicenter of human civilization, and today, we are reaching a new epoch, with the rising popularity of smart and connected urban spaces. Powering this, are game-changing ideas in architecture, construction, and territory management. By 2025, India will be the third largest construction market in the world — this implies an opportunity for startups to meaningfully contribute to future cities by utilizing today’s technologies. At Dassault Systèmes, Construction, Cities & Territories is a key domain, enabling collaboration on the cloud, 4D simulation, automation, digital continuity, and virtual environments to transform traditional processes.
- Personalize effective treatments in life sciences – Life sciences and healthcare are directly linked to social well-being, and technology plays a major role in increasing treatment impact. In India, healthcare IT was expected to grow three times between 2012 and 2018, marking the criticality of adopting next-gen techniques in life sciences. The 3DEXPERIENCE Platform addresses requirements across the innovator-manufacturer-caregiver-patient matrix in Life Sciences. From personalizing treatments to ensuring quality, and increasing the breadth of knowledge, the Platform connects disparate disciplines and systems for positive outcomes.
Through our 3DEXPERIENCE Lab, we have worked with several startups in these areas. For example, we helped the transportation & mobility company, XYT build a modular platform, which could be used for a never-seen-before level of vehicle personalization, running on hybrid or electric energy. Similarly, XtreeE used our 3D Printing and digital technologies to apply additive manufacturing in construction. Life sciences startup Leka was able to use 3D Modeling on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform to build an interactive toy for children with special needs.
In India, Dassault Systèmes is committed to empowering innovation, growth, and societal change with the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab, now open to the country’s vibrant startup community.
Inspiring Innovation with On-Ground Reinforcement
For startups looking to explore benefits like those discussed above, we are inviting dynamic and clutter-breaking concepts in Electric Vehicles, Life Sciences, and Construction, City, and Territories. Every year, we bring together the world’s leaders in technology to discuss new ways of living, working, interacting, innovating, and creating business at 3DEXPERIENCE Forum. This year, 3DEXPERIENCE lab India is launching “The 3DxPitch” in our 3DEXPERIENCE Forum 2019. 3DxPitch will allow select 3 startup to pitch their story in front of DASSAULT SYSTEMES executives and our esteemed industry leaders of India. It’s a great opportunity for the startup to connect with the Indian industry leaders and get selected in 3DEXPERIENCE Lab. The final winner of “The 3DxPitch” will get an opportunity to get mentored by our industry experts / executive in Paris and also pitch their story globally in our 3DxPitch PARIS.
