We were delighted to kick-off the second day of DEFEXPO in Lucknow, a biennial showcase of India’s latest innovations in the aerospace & defense sector.
Dassault Systèmes is at Booth No. S17 DEFEXPO 2020: Key Moments
The 10th edition of DEFEXPO was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, on the 5th of February, 2020, with several meetings, seminars, and exhibitions scheduled till the 8th.
Day 1 was all about sharing Dassault Systèmes’ industry solution experiences with visitors from myriad organizations. Wednesday witnessed hands-on experiences at our Virtual Reality POD, conversations with industry experts from HAL, ADA, and DRDO, as well as several seminars by aerospace & defense public sector organizations.
On Thursday, Cochin Shipyard’s CMD Mr. Madhu Nair, and Director Ops, Mr. Suresh Kumar visited our booth. We had an enlightening discussion on how to accelerate the manufacturing process, increase capacity, and meet production targets by leveraging the Build to Operate industry solution experience by Dassault Systèmes. It is among the key industry solution experiences on display, which also include Co-design to Target, Program Excellence, and Ready for Rate.
Based on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, the Build to Operate industry solution experience enables the streamlining of Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) for aerospace & defense majors. Users can leverage the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform to monitor, control, and validate the multiple elements of the manufacturing process, empowered by digital precision. This drives the extensibility of aerospace & defense supply chains on a global scale.
Mr. Radhakrishnan from BEML also dropped by for an in-depth chat on the need for agile planning and scheduling in aerospace & defense. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform allows companies to accelerate production, maintain program efficiency, unify cross-disciplinary functions, and achieve digital continuity – thereby powering agility and timeliness.
We were also excited to meet delegates from the Indian Armed Forces at DEFEXPO 2020. Our experts shared insights on how organizations could use our Reinvent the Sky industry solution experience to address common industry challenges experienced by fast-growing aerospace & defense organizations. Importantly, the Reinvent the Sky industry solution experience, based on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, addresses the growing complexity and fragmentation that arises in the supply chain network when scaling.
Across the day, there were several customer interactions and sessions with company representatives on the various possibilities on the road towards the Digital Transformation of Defense. Interestingly, this was the theme selected for DEFEXPO this year.
“I just spoke to Mr. Ratish RAO from Dassault Systèmes, and he’s been very helpful, he guided me how artificial intelligence can aid in predictive analytics, giving deeper insights into cost savings, what-if scenarios, and root cause analysis as well,” said Harshit Khetawat, Director, Bharat Roadways.
“I think 3D Scanning and understanding what the demand of the future might be is crucial to saving costs. This is something that Dassault Systèmes is doing very well,” he added.
A Forum for Leaders, Disruptors, and Visionary Innovators
As another day of DEFEXPO comes to a close, we were glad to have been present for its incredible and informative experiences. On the 6th, India signed 11 MoUs that will introduce cutting-edge technologies to the country’s aerospace & defense landscape[1].
The day had started with a special inauguration geared for business visitors, and continued into seminars on ongoing government initiatives, emerging manufacturing ideas, and partnerships between key aerospace & defense majors. There were several enthralling displays and performances on the Gomti riverfront, followed by discussions on bleeding edge topics such as AI and 3D Printing.
Throughout the course of the day, we spoke to several government officials and aerospace & defense experts on the different application areas for the latest technologies. Delegates from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) explored Dassault Systèmes’ virtual reality (VR) solution experiences for the industry.
The second day of DEFEXPO ended with a dinner in honor of African defense ministers, underscoring India’s relationship with the continent’s thriving economic landscape. DEFEXPO also hosted the first-ever India-Africa Defense Conclave on February 6th, 2020.
“This year’s DEFEXPO was among the best ever. The experiences that we have had, that wonderful speech by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, and the theme of Make in India were deeply satisfying for the entire defense community. We are seeing a lot of Indian companies that have come of age, and I think it augurs well from rising above only importing to becoming an exporter – in all, a really fruitful and enriching two days so far,” a delegate from BEML told our experts.
Over the next few days, we look forward to many more such moments of great dialogue, fascinating insights, and critical collaborations. A warm note of thanks to our industry experts and esteemed visitors who joined us at DEFEXPO in this exploration of innovation, disruptive technologies, and the future of aerospace & defense. See you in 2022!
