[Press Release] Team Technovus from Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, Pune wins Dassault Systèmes’ AAKRUTI 2020 – A Nationwide Product Design Contest in India

Pune, India  December 3, 2020 — Kalpesh Patil, Abhishek Chaudhari of Team Technovus from Pimpri Chinchwad College Of Engineering, Pune were adjudged the winner of Aakruti 2020, the nationwide product design contest in India. Team Technovus showcased their futuristic Plant Residue Pullovator as part of the theme of ‘Design Product for Rural Entrepreneurship’. The winning team will receive cash prize, SOLIDWORKS Certificaion vouchers and student licence, alongside a job opportunity at Dassault Systemes. The jury comprised of industry experts like Manish Kumar, Vice President, R&D, SOLIDWORKS, Dassault Systemes, Thierry Chevrot – Learning Experience Director User Empowerment, Dassault Systemes, Suchit Jain, Vice President, Strategy & Business Development, SOLIDWORKS, Dassault Systèmes. Team ZeHorsemen from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, Punjab and Team Prakshepan from Vellore institute of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu showcasing products like Regenerative Electric Exhaust and Vision Box were announced as the first runner up and second runner up respectively.

In its 10th year, Aakruti 2020 had participation from 2820 students, from 385 colleges from 25 states of India. 11 teams were selected from three zonal rounds by an eminent jury panel basis their design submissions based on four diverse themes: ‘Small is Big’, ‘Medical Devices with Innovation’, ‘Stop Pollution at Source’, ‘Design Product for Rural Entrepreurship’ and ‘Re-engineer Products for Contactless Operation because of COVID-19’. The selected teams were chosen basis adherence to their theme and product design feasibility.  The teams designed innovative solutions with the potential to address the challenges of the present and the future – both technological and social. Overcoming the challenges induced by the pandemic, the participants were able to work seamlessly with respective team members virtually on cloud by leveraging the SOLIDWORKS applications based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Launched in 2011, Aakruti over the years, has had a tremendous response from students across India. This competition is an innovation-driven platform to shape student’s imagination and bring their innovative designs to life using Dassault Systèmes product design applications encouraging students to showcase their design skills, creativity, and innate talent.
