In early September, one of Dassault Systèmes’ newest and most exciting brands, 3DEXCITE, brought their annual North American demonstration event to sunny Los Angeles. 3DEXCITE Live 2015, hosted at the historic Avalon Hollywood nightclub brought together an assortment of high-end visualization technology showcases, and demonstrated how the latest next-gen 3D technologies are shaping the Automotive, Transportation, Aerospace, Lifestyle, Industrial Engineering, and Consumer Goods industries.
We were also joined by a several design visionaries who spoke about how 3D design has changed their businesses and will continue help grow their industries. These speakers included:
- Chris Hillyer from Deckers footwear, who showed how ultra-realistic 3D image scans was shortening his design and production time
- Joshua Young, a digital product creation consultant with two decades worth of experience at Nike, who spoke about the effect of 3D technology across the fashion and retail industries
- David Kepron, a brand experience expert, who talked about how the human mind processes experiences, and what that means for marketers
The day ended with evening keynote addresses from Camilo Pardo and Daniel Simon, who showed their respective automotive design portfolios and discussed how 3D design technology is helping fuel their art. But the big finish came from Syd Mead, a world-renowned designer and futurist that created the Hollywood worlds of “Blade Runner,” “Aliens,” and “Star Trek: The Motion Picture.” He was the creative force behind the iconic light-cycles from “Tron” for goodness sake! Syd gave a fascinating look through his design portfolio and discussed the inspirations for his future-world sketches.

It’s safe to say this was a pretty “visual” event.
This was the first year we’ve taken our 3DEXCITE Live event for North America to Hollywood, and we had a great crowd of customers, partners, and tech enthusiasts. We’ll keep you posted on plans for next year, and we hope to see you there!
