The Future of Composites in the Automotive Industry – SPE ACCE, Sept. 7-9

We are pleased to announce that Rani Richardson, Dassault Systèmes’ Composites & Additive Manufacturing Industry Consultant, will be chairing the 16th annual SPE Automotive Composites Conference & Exhibition(ACCE).

ACCE

The event is set to take place on September 7-9 in Novi, Michigan. It is designed to educate and update automotive design and production engineers, sales personnel, and management from transportation OEMs and tier suppliers about the benefits and importance of thermoset and thermoplastic composites in passenger vehicles, light trucks, and other ground transportation applications.

ACCE will also feature its student poster competition, which is open annually to all college students who wish to participate. After submitting abstracts earlier this year, approved student projects were invited to create and present academic posters on the topic of their choosing. Posters are reviewed during the first day of the ACCE by a panel of judges, and the top three graduate and undergraduate entries will be awarded a scholarship during a luncheon ceremony on September 8th.

The ACCE event is expected to draw more than 900 attendees. The event provides an environment dedicated solely to discussion and networking about advances in transportation composites. Its global appeal is evident in the diversity of those who come to the conference from all over the world. Fully one-third of attendees indicate they work for automotive and light truck, agriculture, truck & bus, or aviation OEMs, and another 25 percent represent tier suppliers. Attendees also work for suppliers of composite materials, processing equipment, additives, or reinforcements. Guests from trade associations, consultants, university and government labs, media, and investment bankers round-out the attendees. The show has been jointly sponsored by the SPE Automotive and Composites Divisions since 2001.

SPE ACCE will feature a record number of technical presentations, five keynote speakers, and panel members from premier manufacturers and industry luminaries, including Dr. Craig Blue, CEO of IACMI, The Composites Institute, and Dassault Systèmes’ Ove Schuett, Vice President of Sales, Transportation & Mobility and Industrial Equipment.

It is the hope of the ACCE that in coming together, our combined efforts organizations across the composites industry will be able to discuss and solve the challenges of our customers and strengthen the industry as a whole.

Dassault Systèmes has always taken an active stance towards the implementation of composites in the transportation industry, which is essential to making vehicles lighter, safer and more fuel-efficient. Dassault Systèmes is committed to advancing the automotive industry and supporting similar initiatives like the IACMI and participating in events such as ACCE.
