ASEE: Emphasizing the “E” in “STEM”

Quality education is the fundamental key to producing leaders in any workforce, and it’s particularly important within the STEM field. Dassault Systèmes is dedicated to helping students in North America, and around the world, get the resources that they need in order to receive such an education. That’s why we’re excited to be presenting the 13th annual American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Workshop on K-12 Engineering Education. The workshop aims to help teach pre-college educators how to integrate the “E” in STEM (Engineering) into their curriculums. This year’s conference will take place from Saturday, June 25 to Sunday, June 26 at the New Orleans Convention Center in New Orleans.

Xavier Fouger

Our Senior Director of Global Academia Programs at Dassault Systèmes, Xavier Fouger, will be the keynote speaker for the conference. We are excited to be presenting two workshops: “Create Your Own Interactive 3D Digital Learning Applications in an Hour”, which helps teachers to efficiently integrate various types of existing 3D data into stimulating interactive learning scenarios, as well as “A Hands-On Experience in Collaborative Engineering Design & Manufacturing to Inspire Tomorrow’s Engineers!”, which introduces teachers to a program where students learn ground and aerial robotics as well as engineering product design through use of both Lego Mindstorms/Quadcopters and Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

This workshop is a step in the right direction for bolstering interest in the engineering field. One of the key elements in the conference is promoting collaboration in the workspace, which is a core philosophy of Dassault Systèmes. We provide a platform that enables innovation across a team, or across a worldwide enterprise. We’ve seen how collaboration across disciplines and distance changes innovation, just as Boeing and Ford Motor Company are building the next-generation connected travel using parts from hundreds of suppliers across the world, and equipping them with “connected” technologies never before used.

Dassault Systèmes is committed to building meaningful connections across platforms in order to provide our customers with the most efficient, cost-effective, and reliable tools to help with any innovation. Additionally, we are dedicated to the enablement of these industrial transitions by helping teachers get their students, of all ages, excited about engineering, which in turn will continue to build a strong STEM industry.
