Forget Rio – Dassault Systèmes is focused on an event of Olympic proportions right here in Boston.
We were excited to be a part of this year’s second annual Summer Games: Battle of the Interns, hosted by Kronos. Dassault Systèmes was one of 12 technology organizations from around the Boston area invited to this event, which took place on Monday, August 1 at The Lawn on D in Boston.
Fifteen of our interns, who were chosen through a qualifying obstacle course, participated in a series of team-based activities, both of the physical and mental variety. The Summer Games made charitable donations to local organizations selected by the top three teams, totaling $10,000. Acquia won the Games for the second year in a row, being followed by enerNOC winning ‘silver’ and Kronos rounding out the podium in third place.
Kronos created the Battle of the Interns last year to “celebrate Massachusetts’ passion for innovation, education, technology leadership, and cultivating the workforce of the future by merging friendly competition with professional networking.” The event has quadrupled in size since last year, with about 500 people attending the festivities Monday. The competition for talent amongst companies in the Boston tech-scene is fierce, and attracting top graduates out of college is part of every company’s employment strategy. Dassault Systèmes is embracing the desires of millennial workers, who focus on their overall employment experience rather than just a paycheck, and fun team building activities like Summer Games: Battle of the Interns are great ways to build camaraderie. If you work at Dassault Systèmes, you get a chance to make a difference and change the world…and the free coffee, fountain soda, and Ping-Pong table is nice too!
