Dassault Systemes Hosts “Mixed Reality” Networking Event in LA, September 22nd

The Rooftop Biergarten at The Standard Hotel in Downtown LA will be the place to “see and be seen” on Thursday, Sept. 22nd from 3-8 p.m. as Dassault Systemes hosts a “Mixed Reality” networking event, bringing together visionary influencers from the Automotive, Architecture, Construction, Consumer Electronic, Entertainment, Fashion, Healthcare, and Transportation industries. Guests will chat and socialize about future industry trends and challenges needed to meet the demands of artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual technologies. Learn about the world of Mixed Reality and brainstorm how this digital transformation paves new ways to improve efficiencies, develop new revenue streams and create new customer experiences.
We had the chance to catch up with Steven Madge, Vice President Industry and Global Affairs for Dassault Systemes to get a preview of the event, and talk to us about Mixed Reality.  We’re intrigued.

Question:   Steven, what do you mean by Mixed Reality?steven-madge
Steven Madge: Over the next 10 years technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR) will explode and everything will change. MR is the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce new environments, experiences and visualizations. It’s where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in real time. According to Microsoft HoloLens, VR immerses you in a simulated world. AR overlays digital information on top of your real world.  By understanding your environment, MR enables holograms to look and sound like they’re part of your world.  Check out Microsoft’s HoloLens, which is set to be big in MR.

Question:  We hear a lot these days about the consumer experience.  How would Mixed Reality impact the consumer experience?

Steven Madge: Mixed Reality, or MR has found its way into a number of applications, evident in the arts and entertainment industries. However, MR is also branching out into the business, manufacturing and education worlds with systems such as these.

  • Education: Learning comes alive when flat illustrations become 3D images that students can explore, alter and examine from every angle.
  • Automotive and Aerospace: Puts the designers, engineers and consumers in the center of everything- by configuring cars and planes in an entirely new way, reducing the number of physical prototype parts for the engineers and creating a compelling and exciting buying experience for the consumer.
  • Space Scientists: Exploring Mars using holograms of Mars Rover Images, creating an experience of walking on the surface of Mars.
  • Military Training: Combat reality can be simulated and represented in complex, layered data through Head Mounted Displays.

Question:  What will visitors experience at the September 22nd networking event you’re hosting in LA?
Steven Madge:  Our guests will have the opportunity to mix and socialize with influencers from multiple industries who have differing levels of experience within the worlds of AR/VR/MR. There will be leading automotive companies as well as healthcare, entertainment and fashion brands sharing their experiences. World leading hardware and chip producers will be displaying and offering their perspectives on the future of MR.  And spectacular views of LA.
