February 5, 2016 – Desktop Engineering: SolidWorks World 2016: Remaking the Company in the Image of IoT

The ghost of IoT haunts MCAD companies. Once, the M in the MCAD was a mark of distinction. But in the era where software, circuits, and chips account for a large part of the products and their functions, the capital M that — in many cases, unfairly — brands a program as strictly mechanical is an albatross around one’s neck. This year, SolidWorks takes dramatic steps to break the mechanical mould.

February 10, 2016 – Engineering: SOLIDWORKS Will Launch a New CAD Program This Year

Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS introduced a brand new product for mechanical design at its recently held annual user meeting. February 10, 2016 – Slate: A Digital Twin of Your Body Could Become a Critical Part of Your Health Care

For 35 years, Dassault Systèmes has been making 3-D “digital twins” of real objects like bridges, buildings, and automobiles to test, virtually, how they will behave in the real world. Using such a digital twin, engineers can see how a bridge flexes during heat waves, how buildings sway during earthquakes, and how cars behave during head-on collisions. That allows them to identify—and perhaps fix—weaknesses, ideally before shoddy bridges, buildings, and cars have a chance to hurt anyone. This time, Dassault Systèmes wants to take its concept of digital twins into medicine and to simulate the human body.
