September 9 – Consumer Goods Technology: The Evolution of the Shopping Experience
To remain competitive in today’s economy, companies have to constantly find new and efficient ways to sell their products or services to consumers. As 3D technology is steadily establishing itself in the retail marketplace, companies are embracing the technology and integrating it to their operations and strategy. To name a few, here are some ways 3D technology can help your business:
- Accelerating Product Time to Market– Using 3D product simulation affords the opportunity to create virtually, what will happen in reality. Brands will experience many efficiencies along the way, which will improve time to market and bottomline margins.
- Product Differentiation – Packages designed using a collaborative software platform that enables visualization of the developed product are in a better position to be modified on the fly to better optimize sales.
- A Better Customer Experience – Retailers are leveraging the ability to imagine and plan for different types of situations. They can “test” through simulation of various shopping experiences and even customize the experience by store location – empowering local stores to make decisions – from lighting to store layout – that will best appeal to their own customer base.
September 17 – Forbes: 3D Technology Is Changing The Game For Marketers
While online shopping has significantly enhanced our consumer experience, its convenience is still not fully realized. After all, seeing is believing, and many customers insist on seeing products in person before committing to a purchase. With most online platforms currently in place, consumers are still unable to experience the same level of immersion they get at a physical store and as a result, they are forced to leave the comfort of their couch or abandon their shopping carts entirely. Thanks to 3D technology, however, marketers are bridging the gap between reality and virtual to create a better and more complete buying experience for customers. Get inside the car you’ve always wanted without leaving your house, or see how those jeanas would really look without actually trying them on? The possibilities are endless.
September 18 – Fast Company: Take A 3-D Tour Of A Big, Beating Human Heart
Once again, Dassault Systemes’ Living Heart Project was highlighted this month for its potential medical applications. This 3D simulation of the heart serves as a valuable tool that will help doctors and surgeons understand the organ and treatment options by giving them the ability to simulate certain conditions and components.
