As the weather continues to change from “not freezing” into “gorgeous” in many parts of the country, you’ll begin to see more people riding their bikes to work or just riding for fun. For a small group of Dassault Systèmes employees, the biking season didn’t begin with the nice weather, but a few months ago as they prepared for bike races on behalf of several different charities.
“Team Dassault Systèmes” is comprised of individuals from the Dassault Systèmes community (employees, customers, resellers, partners, and friends) and was formerly named “Team SOLIDWORKS” until 2008 when it merged with “Team SIMULIA”, another brand under the Dassault Systèmes umbrella.
Across North America, there are several different bike events that Dassault Systèmes employees take part in and over the last 13 years they have raised an incredible $4.8 Million dollars for charity. For the last three years, the bike team has raised over $500,000 a year and it seems the team is aiming for that goal again with nearly $150,000 secured already. At the moment, the team is trying to raise more money with an auction that will close on July 24th 2015 – If you’ve ever wanted to own a lot of Dassault Systèmes or SOLIDWORKS branded apparel/office accessories, now is your chance to get them while donating to a great cause!
Some of the charities being supported include: The Jimmy Fund, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the American Diabetes Association and more. In addition to helping these awesome causes, Dassault Systèmes has a team for the National Bike Challenge which challenges more people to get out on a bike from May through September when they days grow longer.
The Dassault Systèmes love affair with bikes and biking doesn’t end there though. You can, of course, design bike frames, chains and helmets using our software. Hopefully you like bikes as much as we do and will spend a good portion of your national bike month out riding in your community.
