Honoring Veterans and Revitalizing America’s Advanced Manufacturing Workforce

In honor of Veteran’s Day , Dassault Systèmes is proud to support and honor those who served in the US armed forces through our SOLIDWORKS Military Veterans Program (MVP), which allows veterans to obtain a copy of SOLIDWORKS at a deep discount, with just an application and a copy of a DD214 discharge form. But in addition to providing software directly to veterans, we’re working on some additional initiatives to ease the transition from military to civilian life.

This year, the SOLIDWORKS EDU team flew into San Diego this year to visit Workshops for Warriors, an organization that is providing veterans and their families with a rigorous machine and design training program using the latest technology , which in turn helps revitalize America’s advanced manufacturing workforce. These veterans work hard to become highly skilled and certified in MasterCam, SOLIDWORKS and other job skills that are in high-demand by the manufacturing sector.

The Workshops for Warriors and SOLIDWORKS EDU Team

In an in-depth tour of Workshops for Warriors, the team got to meet a number of highly-skilled instructors and check out well-equipped workshops, where students get to work on real projects which will require them to apply manual techniques on mill and lathes, and reverse engineer complex parts that require special tooling.

With an impressive job placement rate of 100% of graduates, Workshop for Warriors has produced over 100 graduates since 2011. Having been part of the organization for the past five years, SOLIDWORKS will continue to support similar initiatives such as this and veterans across the nation.
