Webinar: Just How Fast Can a Jet Engine on Four Wheels Go?

763 MPH has stood as the land-speed world record for nearly two decades. At that speed you could drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco in only 30 minutes.  Just one year after that British team set the record (and became the first vehicle to break the sound barrier on land), North American Eagle’s founders Ed Shadle and Keith Zanghi, began their 20-year pursuit to break that record and bring the title of fastest vehicle back into American hands.

To achieve that dream they built a 56-foot long vehicle (pictured above) with a 42,500 Horse Power jet engine taken from an F-104 jet. The vehicle weighs in at more than 7 tons and burns 90 gallons of fuel per minute. It rides on four, $20,000 aluminum wheels capable of enduring speeds of up to 800 MPH.

To get a better sense of the scale, complexity, and breakneck speeds involved in North American Eagle’s record-setting undertaking, this 12-minute video from Autoblog gives a first-hand account of “a fighter jet on wheels, without the wings.”

It is because of this daring and innovative spirit that we’re happy to feature North American Eagle in our second installment of the Innovation That Inspires webinar series. Join Dassault Systèmes and North American Eagle’s Ed Shadle (Owner and Driver), Keith Zanghi (Director of Operations), and Don Mitchell (CATIA Programmer) for a complimentary webinar on August 31 that will give an inside look into North American Eagle’s mission to “see just how fast this car can go” with solutions from Dassault Systèmes. They’ll discuss how the team has gotten this far, as well as:

  • How they used realistic simulations to gain critical performance information during test runs
  • Why collaboration was key in bringing the virtual into reality, and
  • About the team’s plans to incorporate platform and cloud technology into their environment

Don’t miss this exclusive event with North American Eagle and Dassault Systèmes!

Registration for the August 31st webinar is open now!
