MINExpo 2016 – Visit Dassault Systèmes and Experience Mine Operations in Immersive Virtual Reality

Beneath the earth where our technology is helping build cars, construct airplanes, and save lives, Dassault Systèmes is a part of a different kind of development: mining.

Our society needs the minerals and fuels that the mining industry brings us, but is also seeking to balance these demands with increased sustainability. These needs are at the core of Dassault Systèmes’ mission to harmonize products, nature, and life, and we use our 3D technologies help achieve a balance between these competing forces. With virtual versions of mining projects used from exploration, through planning, and during execution, mining companies can maximize the amount of precious materials extracted while significantly lowering their risks and costs.

At this year’s MINExpo, being held from September 26 – 28 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Dassault Systèmes’ booth (#2453) will be hosted by our Natural Resources and Industrial Equipment industries. At the booth, visitors will experience four themed demo areas, an Innovation Theater featuring “Ted” like Innovation Talks, and a one-of-a-kind Virtual Reality (VR) experience using an HTC Vive headset.  This highly realistic VR experience allows visitors to explore a virtual underground mine site.minexpo

At the demo pods, visitors will gain insights into mining and industrial equipment projects from their inception through to their execution in the real world. They will also discover how collaboration between mining companies and industrial equipment vendors can produce an optimal piece of equipment for an operation and then maximize its performance after it has been deployed.

Across all three days of the show, the Innovation Theater will host more than 20 Innovation Talks. These talks will explore a variety of topics of interest to mining and industrial equipment companies who are interested in learning about the latest industry trends and technologies. Topics covered during these talks will include: “The Role of Global Supply Chain Planning in Mine Optimization”; “When Virtual Reality Meets Real-time Equipment Performance”; and “Innovative Technologies for Predictive Simulation in the Mining Industry”.
