North America 3DEXPERIENCE FORUM 2017 – Day Two Recap

The past two days have been a whirlwind of activity here at the North American 3DEXPERIENCE FORUM 2017 in Hollywood, FL. Built around the theme of ‘Doing Business in the Age of Experience,’ the event has been filled with inspiring presentations, conversations and demos on how the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is empowering companies of all sizes to drive innovation and challenge industry standards.

During today’s plenary session, we learned how the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is enabling a new generation of design across industries – from healthcare to oil and gas – creating enhanced experiences.

The session started with Thomas Marchand, Co-founding CEO & Chairman of BIOMODEX, a medtech company that’s using 3D printing to transform patient care.

Next up, we had a panel discussion moderated by Jim Brown, President of Tech-Clarity. The panel featured Javier Glatt, Co-founder & CEO of CadMakers, Inc., Javi Parupally, Senior Director, Business Applications at Rockwell Collins and Jeff Walters, Vice President, Engineering of Globe Trailers, where the four talked about how embracing the cloud allows organizations of different sizes and industries to focus on their core competencies without being burdened by IT infrastructure. By moving to the cloud, companies are able to redefine how they’re doing business, bringing true disruption to the marketplace. As explained during the panel, there are myriad benefits to cloud migration that span from IT oriented to business strategy. We also learned that all clouds are not equal. Complexity is different depending on your needs, so do your research and have a good alignment with partners.

Following the panel we also heard from Vaseem Kahn, Vice President, Global Engineering of McDermott International on how after 94 years, the oil and gas industry is using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to transform business and disrupt an industry that been slow to change. Using the platform, McDermott has been able to design facilities around the idea of a digital twin – a simulated replication of the physical facility. As a result, they can bring all data together into one place and use this information to improve work processes, in the end delivering facilities faster with fewer mistakes at a lower cost. This is a game changer for the industry and provides McDermott with a single source of truth, something Vaseem noted is essential for success.

Finally, we heard from Karl D’Souza, Senior Solution Consultant, Virtual Human Modeling at Dassault Systèmes, who addressed how personalized healthcare is being empowered by simulation and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. He also discussed today’s announcement that the Living Heart Project, originally debuted in 2013, will now be available on the cloud. This news is particularly exciting for us, as it enables wider adoption of the project, allowing companies both big and small to access and use the data – further transforming the way we provide patient care.

We are excited to see what the next year holds in terms of platform innovation. Thank you again to our customers, partners and industry experts that participated in this year’s FORUM. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
