Join Dassault Systèmes at Autonomous Vehicle Technology Expo taking place at The Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan from October 22-24, 2019, and learn how next generation AV developers and their suppliers can deliver optimal performance of sophisticated autonomous vehicles by using a digital collaborative cloud-based platform.

3DEXPERIENCE Platform Drives Competitive Advantage

While the benefits of autonomous and electric vehicles can be significant, one of the key challenges facing new developers has been the amount of time it takes for start-ups to move from design to prototype to market. In the competitive electric and autonomous vehicle space, technology and systems that can accelerate the development process will deliver a competitive advantage. Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE platform, for example, allows for cloud based collaboration between teams as well as virtual product simulations that can often remove the need for physical prototypes, speeding time to market.

Sappin spoke to the evolution of the automotive industry as it incorporates new technologies and consumer experience into new vehicles.

According to Sappin,

“There’s been close to 100 years of innovation for many of the car companies today. Barriers to entry for new OEMs were so high that new players couldn’t compete. However, in the last 10 years we’ve seen major disruptions in the automotive industry with rapid technology innovation and a focus on consumer experience ushering in the advent of electric and autonomous vehicles.  It’s becoming easier for new companies to try to compete in this sector, starting with Tesla. We’ve been partnering with Tesla from almost day one. Then when new EV startups like Canoo or Lucid Motor or Byton or Faraday Future were in launch-mode, a lot of these companies were starting from the same basis – and they loved the platform approach that we offer. One of their big advantages is that they have no legacy, they start from a blank sheet of paper. So for them, a digital, collaborative platform available on the cloud is a fantastic way for them to get everyone working together in one unique environment.”

The 3DEXPERIENCE platform allows for a quicker time to market through expanded design capabilities, model based systems engineering and testing capabilities. With the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, car makers can deploy innovative applications that support end-to-end digital continuity between the multiple disciplines involved in conceptual design, embedded systems and software development of the intelligent car.
