Partnership with WSU/NIAR and Dassault Systèmes to Drive Innovation in Aerospace Industry

Wichita State University

At Dassault Systèmes, we are always looking to drive future innovations across our various industries…and we believe composite manufacturing is poised to usher in a new era of aviation in the aerospace industry. From our membership in the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (a 122-member consortium with a $70M grant from the U.S. Department of Energy), to creating software for the aviation industry like our “Engineered to Fly” industry solution experience, we are in a position to help shape the future of how we fly. While ultra-light and super-strong composite materials have huge implications for aircraft manufacturers, they’re also incredibly complex to create, design and produce. You can’t create future innovations without first educating the future innovators, which is why we are excited to announce that Dassault Systèmes will partner with the National Institute for Aviation Research and Wichita State University (WSU) to open an innovation center at WSU, named the 3DEXPERIENCE Center.

There’s no better place to shape the future of aviation than WSU, which is ranked #1 in the US for industry expenditures on aerospace research and development, according to the National Science Foundation.

As part of WSU’s vast Innovation Campus, the 3DEXPERIENCE Center will focus on enabling advanced product development and manufacturing of next-generation composite materials, as well as how 3D printing can be incorporated into the manufacturing process. Additive manufacturing promises companies the ability to design any shape without restriction, giving the opportunity to create a paradigm shift in the industry. Manufacturers can reduce waste by up to 90 percent and eliminate mistakes that impact quality and cost.

It’s an exciting time for the aviation field and we are proud of the role we have taken on, as innovator and educator. Check back here for updates as the 3DEXPERIENCE Center comes together and visit the press release to learn more about the partnership announcement.
