CadMakers Inc., a Dassault Systèmes partner, is working with an innovative new start up that will let you design a prefabricated home for just $250. Cover, an LA based technology startup, is able to create the unique homes using Dassault Systèmes CATIA (the same software using by architects such as Frank Gehry)on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform on the cloud.
In an interview with Fast Company, Cover owner Alexis Riva said, “We’re taking the traditional design and engineering process of creating several iterations, which typically takes weeks and months, and compressing it into a short period of time with software. It makes the process more accessible. There’s a lot more transparency and it’s a more frictionless experience for the client.”
So what role does CATIA play?
According to an article in Digital Trends Cover uses CATIA on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, “to analyze the data gathered from the client and generate hundreds of unique building designs. “
Cover is a customer of CadMakers Virtual Construction, a partner of Dassault Systèmes. CEO Javier Glatt spoke at the 3DEXPERIENCE FORUM in 2016 about the efficiencies of offering architectural services based on the cloud. According to Glatt “We use the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to perform multiple tasks in a single environment, optimize workflows and save time—from modeling and coordinating all building systems of large and complex projects in one 3D model, to developing detailed simulations of construction processes and generating data outputs for prefabrication of mass timber, steel, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems,” said Javier Glatt, CEO, CadMakers Virtual Construction. “We believe the 3DEXPERIENCE platform may be the most powerful solution available to the AEC industry.”
