Just 3 years ago, the 3DEXPERIENCE FORUM 2014 served as the launchpad for Dassault Systèmes’ Living Heart Project, a transformational initiative to develop a scientifically-accurate 3D simulation of the human heart that could be leveraged by the medical community to diagnose cardiovascular illness and simulate surgical procedures. Today, with more than 95 member organizations, the project has grown rapidly, achieved critical mass and is now self-sustaining with active participation and collaboration among members. Last month’s 3DEXPERIENCE FORUM 2017 was the launchpad for Dassault Systèmes to announce that the Living Heart Project has reached the next milestone in its mission to improve patient care, including new availability through the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud.
The new cloud-enabled release offers the speed and flexibility of high-performance computing (HPC) to even the smallest medical device companies, further enabling the creation and use of simulated 3D personalized hearts in the treatment, diagnosis and prevention of heart diseases. As the scientific and medical community seeks faster and more targeted ways to improve patient care, the Living Heart Project is also extending its reach through new partnerships and applications while lowering the barriers to access.
3DEXPERIENCE FORUM 2017 attendees were treated to an emotional, educational and enlightening update on the Living Heart Project. Watch our plenary session video below to hear the personal story behind this game-changing scientific innovation led by Steve Levine, Ph,D., followed by an update from Karl D’Souza, virtual human modeling expert with Dassault Systemes SIMULIA brand. Karl walked us through real examples of how the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is making personalized healthcare a reality through powerful simulation tools capable of modeling the multi-physics/multi-scale nature of the human body, access to a vibrant ecosystem of experts, new visualization and interactive tools that foster creativity, well-defined end-to end-workflows to speed the innovation process, and access to high performance computing and data analytics tools.
