Walking the Floor with Dassault Systèmes at DAC 2015

As we highlighted a few weeks ago, this week San Francisco hosted the Design Automation Conference (DAC), and Dassault Systèmes was a proud sponsor. The Moscone Center was filled with booths from leading semiconductor and technology vendors and thousands of attendees filled the aisles from Monday through Wednesday.

At the Dassault Systèmes booth, we took advantage of the crowds by hosting dozens of presentations for passers-by. These presentations included overviews of our Silicon Thinking Design Collaboration Experience delivered by our own Director of Semiconductor Strategy Michael Munsey, and an overview of how the “Internet of Things” impacts semiconductor design, delivered by Ashim Guha, Global Vice President of Tech Mahindra (pictured below). Peter Haynes from our ENOVIA brand talked about overcoming semiconductor complexity using our DesignSync Industry Solution Experience, and Paul Silver discussed how modern semiconductors are affecting the transportation industry.

For some added incentive, the hundreds of presentation attendees were all entered into a raffle for prizes that included an iPad mini, some cool Bose speakers, and more. You can see our winners from Tuesday below…definitely the happiest people on the show floor.

Some other popular venues on the DAC show floor were the Advanced Electronics in Automotive Pavilion – where Dassault Systèmes was featured as a technology partner, alongside a gorgeous Audi SQ5 – and the DAC Speaker Pavilion, where there was standing-room only for presentations throughout the day.

With so many vendors in one place, everyone tried different tactics to stand out and get their message across, and we saw some plenty of creativity. Excellicon set up an “igloo” for their meeting space. The focus on automotive technology was popular throughout the show, and it was a popular theme…Real Intent set up racing simulators, while IC Manage rolled in an exotic McLaren P1 car to attract eyeballs (they unfortunately were not offering test-rides).

And speaking of wheels, Aldec had “rolling spokesperson” roaming the hallways.

But of course, it wouldn’t be a tradeshow without an abundance of swag and tchotchkes. Some of the best promotional items we ran across include:

Lots of plush toys, including dogs and giraffe dolls

There was even a booth giving out long-stem roses (Editor’s note: I’ve been to a lot of tradeshows, but that was a first).

But by far, the hottest giveaway items at the show were the Minions…they were so popular, the Cadence booth ran out by the second day (but not before I snagged two for myself!). From one marketing team to another, nice job, guys.

And with that, we close the book on DAC 2015. Visit our High Tech industry page to learn more about all the tools and insights Dassault Systèmes has to offer the semiconductor industry, and our Silicon Thinking Industry Solution Experience landing page.
