As I am frequently flying over US to meet with customers, I’ve spent a lot of time working in planes. So I appreciate that CATIA V6 be ‘on the cloud’ in the sense that it allows to refine a 3D design online using a standard https web connection. I thought I would share with you my experience of design using CATIA V6… from 36,000 feet.
YES: this is not just about being ON the cloud but also, literally, ABOVE the cloud(s) ! 🙂
What I like when authoring with CATIA V6 is that I don’t need to check out and download locally my assembly to perform my modifications, and check them back in. Nope. Instead, I navigate through the 3D design residing on the server instantly over the web, open the parts I want to work with, perform the changes and hit save (more precisely “propagate” as we say in V6, as it also manages the potential impacts) when I’m done.
Maybe this video can give a new meaning to streaming “up/down” only what is necessary of the 3D design: up/down from a plane.
