The debut of the new GT Supercar once again demonstrates that Ford is a leader when it comes to pushing innovative boundaries. Nostalgic passion for the GT40 was reignited when Ford introduced an incredible new modern version of their long time classic.

Cutting-edge technology and engineering excellence are the enablers behind Ford’s unmatched innovative commitment to delivering high-performance vehicles to customers. The GT Supercar design is an impressive work of art that uses innovative components to increase performance. The carbon fiber body provides a lightness rarely seen in its category. Ford’s next-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine will produce more than 600 horsepower.

“The wide front end is reminiscent of the classic Ford GT40, but the rest of the design is fully supercar-modern” – Alexander Stoklosa from CarandDriver.Com

The announcement of the GT Supercar sent a strong reminder that Ford still has the innovation and capacities to engineer and produce vehicles that consumers want and love.  The new GT Supercar is a worthy successor to the historic GT 40 with expectations to raise the bar of performance with Ford’s revelation that the car could compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2016. According to vice-president and chief technical officer Raj Nair, Ford is “always evaluating what’s appropriate; we’re always evaluating whether a race series fits with the technology, vehicles and the brand.”

A Strategic Path to Innovation

Another key point in Ford’s strategy is the involvement of Canadian supplier Multimatic in the product development process. Collaborating with its supplier to produce the Ford GT Supercar not only facilitates the engineering process, but reinforces the exchange of information between Multimatic and Ford. Carbon fiber bodies are still an advancing technology and only a few companies can integrate this new material.
