Swiss machining company Bilfit knows that to remain competitive in today’s business environment they have to evolve constantly. They wanted to enhance their ability to engineer and manufacture increasingly complex parts. They were looking for a solution to rapidly program and simulate these parts, a solution that could also grow with them as their business evolved.
To meet these challenges, Bilfit chose Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE® to optimize their ability to engineer, manufacture and ultimately design increasingly complex parts.
Integrating design and manufacturing
Bilfit has become a full solution provider for its customers. Although the core business is manufacturing parts for customers, they can now also design the part for them using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform’s design application CATIA.
If a customer requests a design change, programmers can make the changes directly in CATIA, which automatically updates CNC programs, saving time and money.
With the integrated platform, engineers are able to rapidly design and simulate the manufacturing of complex parts, while storing all necessary information from the designed part to the manufactured end-product. In doing so, reusing already-developed data for new projects becomes easier, which increases productivity.
Moving forward, Bilfit will extend the use of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to generate manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM) and to implement role-based management of their workflows. The company also wants to reinforce collaboration between its three production sites using the platform as their unique access.
Bilfit demonstrates that small or medium-size companies should consider switching to an integrated platform with 3D design and simulation tools. Such platforms enable them to manage digital transformation and capture new business opportunities.
