We will soon be alongside some of the most revolutionary minds at the SXSW Interactive Festival in Austin, TX. Not only will we be in the crowds, but we also will be on-stage! Dassault Systèmes is honored to be a part of this prestigious event for the second year in a row and we look forward to sharing how innovative uses of 3D technology are pushing boundaries in interesting places—with a presentation Saturday, March 8 between 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. CT. in the Capital Ballroom at the Omni Downtown. Mark your calendar by adding the session to your schedule.
This year, we are showing how Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE is transforming the theatrical stage. “Mr. and Mrs. Dream” is based on the work of theater innovator Eugene Ionesco who frequently connected ideas and images to create the unthinkable. Using the latest 3D technologies, researchers and 3D designers at Dassault Systèmes have created a world where engineering, art and science can come together to deliver new designs and products—and even a new classical of theater product or stage
Benoît Marini, Experiential Lab Director at Dassault Systèmes, will give attendees a behind-the-scenes look at how 3D was used to create a virtual set for “Mr. and Mrs. Dream,” a performance that Dassault Systèmes helped bring to stage in partnership with the Pietragalla-Derouault Dance Company. “Mr. and Mrs. Dream,” which premiered recently in Paris, merges the theater with 3D technology, removing the constraints of physical staging and eliminating boundaries between real and virtual worlds.
During the show, performers are immersed in a 3D world, where walls disappear, furniture evaporates, time moves faster and dancers leap from asteroid to asteroid. This unique intersection of the virtual and physical world is made possible by what we’ve called the “Magic Box” – a 3D universe in which dancers perform that is projected on four surfaces (three walls and the ground) engaging them from every angle.
