Optimizing last-mile delivery in cities: Movin’On 2019

Next week in Montreal, high-level stakeholders who aim to change the world of mobility will gather at Movin’On, the international summit for sustainable mobility.  The third annual event, being held June 4-6, is expected to draw more than 5000 participants from across the globe. The theme of this year’s event is Solutions for Multimodal Ecosystems.  Through sessions and exhibits, attendees will look into four main areas: decarbonization and air quality; multimodal urban transit and society; innovative technologies; and circular economy.

Our Olivier Ribet, Executive Vice President, Global Operations Europe, Africa, Middle East and Russia, will participate during day one on a panel called Optimizing Goods Transportation and Traffic to Cities.  The focus of the talk – on Tuesday, June 4 at 2pm – is about optimizing last-mile delivery in cities. A cornerstone of the economy, goods transportation requires efficient organization between and within urban areas. The panel – moderated by Katie Turnbull, Executive Associate Director, Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) and also featuring Danielle Harris, Senior Transportation Planner, San Francisco Transportation Municipal Agency and Fathi Tlatli, Global Automotive Sector President, DHL Customer Solutions and Innovation – will explore how to optimize smart delivery services.

They will look at the major issues associated with the last mile, with each speaker providing their unique perspective on what approaches can be applied to address these issues in both the short and the long-term.

Olivier will specially address how technology such as the 3DEXPERIENCE platform can help the public and private sectors work together to develop, implement and operate innovative approaches. He will also explore how to build – and rebuild – public trust in technology as a solution to transportation issues. Other topics for both Olivier and his fellow panelist will include the role of unmanned aerial systems (UASs) for urban goods movement, better ways to identify cost savings and ROI for innovative projects and the key role of collaboration to accomplish the challenges that derive from a complex urban environment.
