We Blinded Them with Science

Nearly 900 people who know that science will help shape our future gathered in Chicago last week for our event, Science in the Age of Experience. (Did you guess that from the reference in the blog post title to the iconic 1980s song?)

The conference included keynote addresses, breakout sessions, an Additive Manufacturing symposium and hackathon, and hands-on time in the 3DEXPERIENCE plaground to explore how science, engineering and technology have joined together in order to simulate a better world, and how the digital revolution is providing scientists and analysts with an extraordinary opportunity to imagine the impossible and innovate the invisible.

Here is a look back at the event through a series of Twitter posts.

Our keynote speaker, Caralynn Nowinski Collens, M.D., UI Labs CEO encouraged the audience to disrupt the usual way of doing things and dare to think and act differently to solve the world’s most complex problems through innovation, rapid experimentation and collaboration.

In our “Tales of Inspiration” section, Dassault Systèmes customers – including speakers such as aeronautical engineer Arthur Dubois from Joby Aviation and Prof. Katsushi Kunimoto from Nagoya City University Hospital, among others – engaged the audience with stories about working across scientific disciplines to meet engineering and organizational challenges.

In a panel moderated by the CEO of 3EXPERIENCE Platform, brand executives from BIOVIA, GEOVIA and SIMULIA took the stage to share more about how their solution portfolios help drive innovation with the help of scientific discovery.

The future of medicine was a major theme across the event – talking about how applying simulation can help develop 3D printed biomaterials and about the importance of applying data to achieve the goal of personalized medicine.

Many other topics were also covered:

At all of our “Age of Experience” events, the 3DEXPERIENCE Playground is THE area to visit for networking and hands-on learning.  A few highlights from this week:

Finally, we held an Additive Manufacturing symposium (check out a recap of that on our North America blog) which in turn kicked off a 3-day Additive Manufacturing hackathon that concluded at the end of the event. Congratulations to all the participants, especially the winners from Purdue University.

It was an inspiring gathering of scientific minds, and we look forward to new discoveries at 2018’s Science in the Age of Experience in Boston.  We hope you’ll join us!
