Design and Analysis of Antennas for a Modern Smartwatch

When designing wearable consumer electronics in particular, rapidly evolving performance requirements, new usage scenarios and regulatory constraints make the ability to accurately and efficiently evaluate and consider different design options critical in being competitive.

In this webinar, we will look at some of the challenges facing antenna designers in the design of a new smartwatch product. The presentation will explore some design examples and discuss the design and analysis approaches in relation to the regulatory as well as electromagnetic and mechanical performance requirements for a typical commercial smartwatch.

Brian Woods – Managing Director, Magnus

brian-woodsBrian Woods received the B.Eng. (2000) and Msc.Eng. (2002) degrees in Electronic Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch. In 2005, he joined EMSS, where he provided high-level support for North American customers and later took over the role of Engineering Team Leader supporting the development of FEKO.

In 2007, Brian co-founded Magus (Pty) Ltd* in the role of Development Manager, responsible for day-to-day development of the product Antenna Magus. He currently serves as Managing Director of Magus.
