Keynote Sessions at the 3DEXPERIENCE Modeling and Simulation Conference

The 3DEXPERIENCE Modeling and Simulation Conference is right around the corner, taking place on September 18 and 19 in Novi, Michigan. Experts on a wide variety of subjects will discuss real-world simulation applications in industries ranging from aerospace to marine and offshore. Presentations highlighting state-of-the-art solutions for additive manufacturing, 5G, CFD, electric/autonomous vehicles and more will be included. Of particular interest are the Plenary and Keynote Sessions.

On Wednesday September 18, the following presenters will share their expertise:

Clifton Davies, Aerospace Engineer Senior Staff at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, will present the topic “Aircraft Conceptual Design Using 3DEXPERIENCE Simulation Process & Design Exploration Apps.” Davies will discuss modeling and computing challenges in aircraft conceptual design and how SIMULIA solutions were used within the company to address those challenges. He will focus on the successful use of SIMULIA applications such as Process Composer, Results Analytics, and Compute Orchestration Services, as well as offering thoughts on how SIMULIA can improve to meet Aerospace & Defense challenges in the future.

Dr. R. Byron Pipes, Executive Director of the Composites Manufacturing and Simulation Center at Purdue University, will cover “Simulation as the Language of Innovation – 3DEXPERIENCE.” Dr. Pipes will discuss how CATIA and SIMULIA are used in two different workflow applications to develop end-to-end digital twins of composites tooling and the composites manufacturing process in order to produce a prototype for the Rolls Royce Trent thrust reverser blocker door.

Laurent Tournier, Founder of Heol Composites, and Dr. Pierre Yves Mechin of CATIA R&D Composites will present “On the Road to Olympic Games: From ModSim Optimization of a Composite Mast for Racing Application.” They will talk about the FINN Mast Project, in which the 3DEXPERIENCE Composites solution for modeling and simulation was used to build a better sailboat mast.

On Thursday, September 19, keynote and plenary presentations include:

Jeswin Joseph Chankaramangalam, Program Manager and Research Manager at the National Institute for Aviation Research at Wichita State University, will present the topic “Composite sUAS Simulation, Validation and Manufacturing on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.” He will discuss the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR)’s experiences building a composite small Unmanned Aerial System, or sUAS, using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Dr. Allan Zhong, Technology Manager, R&D, Engineering Simulations at Halliburton will present “On Formulations and Applications of Computational Modeling to Product Development in the Energy Sector.” Using examples from over two decades of engineering practices, Dr. Zhong will discuss how computational modeling can help to drive robust engineering mechanics-based design to stimulate innovation and produce optimal performing products while reducing product development time and cost in the energy sector.

Dr. Hansong Huang, Director of Advanced Engineering for Amcor Rigid Packaging, will present “Sustainability and Innovation in Consumer Rigid Packaging Enabled by Simulation Drive Design.” Dr. Huang will talk about how simulation has enabled his company to innovate in lightweighting, reusability, and Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) business initiatives. He will also highlight the need for simulation and collaboration throughout the Consumer Packaged Goods industry enabling up-front decision making to support innovation and circular economy business drivers.

Finally, Nicolas Faure, CATIA Technical Director for North America, and Fabien Letailleur, Director, SIMULIA Transportation and Mobility Strategic Initiatives, will discuss the topic “Seamless Integration of Modeling and Simulation: Real World Application Examples Using the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.” This presentation will cover the benefits of modeling and simulation on a single platform through industry-inspired examples. Learn how to increase collaboration between teams, create design alternatives and easily select the best one, and review design performance.

The topics highlighted above are only a few of those that will be covered over the two days of the 3DEXPERIENCE Modeling and Simulation Conference. If you haven’t registered for the event yet, you can still do so here – we look forward to seeing you!
