Let’s Learn Together: Thermal Engineer Role

This post is a continuation in a series about simulation on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and some of the roles you can find there. This week we are focusing on the Thermal Engineer role and how it can help achieve desired thermal performance and avoid failures due to overheating, all while improving safety and reducing warranty-related costs.

Overview

SIMULIA‘s Thermal Engineer is meant for Mechanical and Thermal Design Engineers working on designing complex thermal equipment, such as electrical and electronic devices, to meet exacting thermal performance standards. Based on the high-quality Fluids Dynamics Engineer role on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, you can drive the design of chassis and layout to get optimal thermal performance and prevent overheating with thermal runaway leading to product failure and safety hazards.

 Benefits
  • Explore and identify optimal cooling strategies (passive, active) to address smaller form factors that drive increased heat density
  • Identify optimal sizing and placement of components (fans, vents, heat sinks) within packaging constraints
  • Accurate and validated results to ensure the product fulfills required electronic certification standards
Highlights

The Thermal Engineer role allows you to:

  • Efficiently simulate fluid flow and thermal performance of design alternatives to accelerate product innovation
  • Explore and identify optimal cooling strategies (passive, active) to address smaller form factors that drive increased heat density
  • Identify optimal sizing and placement of components (fans, vents, heat sinks) within packaging constraints
  • Use accurate and validated results to ensure the product fulfills required electronic certification standards
